The Bangkok Dash Series was founded by the long term British expat, Peter Bond, in 2000. Then in 2010, Peter’s daughters, Rebecca and Tabitha revived the series. After the end of the 2014 series, the Bonds decided to take a step back and passed the event’s rights to “GAA Events” (also known as “Go Adventure Asia”), organizers of the Laguna Phuket Tri and many other international events in Thailand and Southeast Asia. The Bangkok Dash was then renamed to “Tri Dash”.
Tri Dash has become the leading grass root triathlon series in Thailand, racing the traditional Dash distance of 400m swim, 20km bike, and 5km.
For hundreds of triathletes, Tri Dash was their first triathlon race experience and has prepared them for longer and tougher triathlons later on.
All in all, the Tri Dash races are great for those new to triathlons but also a great challenge for seasoned athletes to test their speed, and everyone – athletes and staff – are helpful and friendly, creating race atmosphere.
Athletes are not required to complete the whole distance the first time. You can always cut the swim, bike or run short. Consequently, next time when you know what to expect and can try the whole distance; it is all about just giving it a go. We would much rather you just came out and have some fun than never trying.
